About the role
Texas Instruments is seeking a Software Engineer to define requirements, design, develop, test, and integrate embedded software including device firmware, device drivers, and software frameworks. In this role, you will support pre-silicon design and validation activities while developing software and signal processing applications for the Aerospace & Defense sector.
What you'll do
- Define requirements, design, develop, test, integrate, and support embedded software including operating system software, device drivers, and algorithmic libraries.
- Support pre-silicon design and requirements as well as software validation and test activities.
- Influence hardware architecture requirements from software usage, compatibility, performance, and reuse perspectives.
- Develop and apply machine learning algorithms to edge applications, including using AI coding tools for embedded software development.
- Create and maintain customer collateral for software products, tools, and deliverables.
- Perform quality assurance, configuration management, and release management activities across the software life-cycle.
What you'll need
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relative engineering or research experience.
- Embedded firmware skills and experience, including programming knowledge in C/C++ or other systems programming languages.
- Proficiency in MATLAB or Python with signal processing applications, along with strong assembly programming skills.
- U.S. citizenship, as required for security clearance eligibility.
Nice to have
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical and Computer Engineering.
- Experience with digital signal processing (DSP) software, algorithm, and signal chain development in the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) sector.
- Experience with advanced signal processing algorithms, including filter design, FFTs, FIRs, beamforming, linear algebra, 3D mesh processing, voxel processing, and computer vision algorithms.
- Experience with sensor inputs such as Radar, LiDAR, CMOS sensors, Software Defined Radio (SDR), and Cameras.
- Proven ability to optimize code on DSPs (C66x, C7x) with an in-depth understanding of their architecture, as well as optimizing data movement across multi-level memory systems (Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4) and inter-processor communication.
- Knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms, open-source graph compilers like TVM or ExecuTorch, and familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as Claude for code generation.
