About the role
AMD is hiring an SMTS Systems Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing. The role defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and software compatibility.
What you'll do
- Design complete and complex frameworks, systems, or products, defining input/output and working parameters for hardware and software compatibility.
- Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes while identifying, analyzing, and resolving system design weaknesses.
- Contribute to the system architecture framework deployed across multiple products and systems.
- Evaluate the entire process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use.
- Drive projects of significant technical importance, applying independent judgment to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
- Apply engineering principles to circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment across design, development, and testing.
What you'll need
- Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering, or a related field plus 4 years of experience (or a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields plus 6 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience).
- 4 years of experience in tool and script development.
- 4 years of programming or scripting experience in C, C++, Perl, Ruby, or Python.
- 4 years of experience in debug techniques and methodologies.
- 4 years of experience operating common lab equipment, including protocol/logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- 4 years of experience in board/platform-level debug, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization.
- 4 years of experience with system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy.
