About the role
The Senior Product & Yield Device Engineer holds technical ownership over yield, variability, and device performance across all manufacturing stages for assigned products. The role spans compound semiconductor epitaxy, wafer fabrication, inspection, electrical/optical test, and customer technical engagement in a high-volume manufacturing operation.
What you'll do
- Lead investigations into yield limiters involving epitaxy, wafer processing, device architecture, automated visual inspection (AVI), and test systems. - Correlate epitaxial growth parameters—including temperature uniformity, V/III ratio, precursor chemistry, and dopant incorporation—to downstream optical and electrical device performance. - Perform deep dives into large manufacturing datasets using SQL, JMP, Python, or R to develop multivariate statistical models, regression analysis, and variance decomposition. - Provide Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) input during new product introduction (NPI) to reduce process sensitivity and manage yield ramp. - Drive yield recovery plans from root cause identification through verified improvement, serving as a primary technical interface during customer audits and reviews.
What you'll need
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline with emphasis on semiconductor device physics, or equivalent experience with a Master's or Bachelor's degree. - 5+ years of experience in semiconductor device, product, or yield engineering in high-volume manufacturing. - Strong foundation in solid-state physics, semiconductor device operation, and compound semiconductor epitaxy fundamentals. - Hands-on proficiency in statistical analysis and DOE methodology, alongside tools such as JMP, Python, R, and SQL. - Experience with SPC, multivariate modeling, regression analysis, variance decomposition, and automated data extraction workflows. - Demonstrated experience presenting technical data and root cause analyses to external customers or executive leadership.
Nice to have
- Experience in compound semiconductor or optoelectronic device manufacturing.
