About the role
This role drives die-level logic fault localization and root cause identification for semiconductor devices. You will work with Design, Test, and DFT teams to isolate silicon failures and support yield improvement.
What you'll do
- Perform hands-on failure analysis and root cause identification using physical and electrical fault isolation methodologies.
- Utilize the Advantest 93K platform to test and characterize DUTs and setup test-looping to enable LVP, SDL, and other FA techniques.
- Leverage Design for Test (DFT) concepts, including Scan, BIST, and boundary scan, to interpret test patterns and guide fault isolation strategies.
- Analyze test results to distinguish between design, fab process, or tester-induced failures and deliver actionable corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Test Engineering, and Foundry Engineering teams to resolve yield, performance, and reliability issues.
What you'll need
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in semiconductor failure analysis, yield engineering, or product engineering.
- Practical experience with the Advantest 93K test platform.
- Understanding of DFT basics and logic fault localization.
- Experience with LFI techniques, including LVP, EMMI, SDL, OBIRCH, or other photon/laser-based techniques.
Nice to have
- Experience with Teradyne UltraFLEX plus.

How we counted: 217 open Failure Analysis Engineering (Failure Analysis) roles from 40 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 31 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
