About the role
As Senior Director, Reliability Engineering, you will set the engineering standard for board- and system-level hardware reliability across product lines including Data Center, Server, Graphics Cards, Automotive, and Embedded platforms. You will direct reliability strategy, oversee global engineering teams and testing labs, and guide design and manufacturing decisions through reliability modeling and physics-of-failure analysis.
What you'll do
- Own board- and system-level hardware reliability across product portfolios from component qualification through field deployment.
- Oversee the hardware product reliability program and develop company-wide reliability strategies aligned with business goals.
- Lead multidisciplinary reliability engineering and testing teams across domestic and international sites, including direct ownership of reliability labs.
- Drive Design for Reliability (DfR) and DfX methodologies across engineering, operations, and supply chain to inform design and sourcing decisions.
- Lead reliability modeling, predictions, and risk assessments to quantify engineering uncertainties and guide risk mitigations.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 18+ overall years in board- and system-level reliability testing and activities, with at least 5 years in Data Center equipment reliability and 10+ years in reliability management.
- Deep understanding of reliability concepts, physics of failure, testing methodologies, and industry standards.
- Proficiency with Design for Reliability (DfR), NUDD, and FMEA.
- Experience with reliability modeling, assessments, predictions, and allocations, backed by statistics and reliability mathematics.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis, silicon/semiconductor/package-level reliability, electronics manufacturing and testing processes, and transportation packaging testing.
Skills: physics of failure, reliability modeling, DFR, FMEA, board-level reliability, system-level reliability

How we counted: 497 open Reliability Engineering (Reliability Engineering) roles from 75 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 31 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
