About the role

Cornelis Networks is seeking a Senior AI Productivity Engineer to help shape how the engineering organization uses AI to design, develop, validate, and support networking products. This software and platform engineering position builds and expands a private, secure AI platform and autonomous agent workforce tailored to low-level engineering domains including Linux kernel drivers, firmware, and ASIC development.

What you'll do

  • Own the configuration, tooling, and infrastructure that delivers domain-aware AI tooling to engineering teams working on drivers, firmware, and ASIC register maps.
  • Design, implement, and deploy autonomous agents from concept to production using FastAPI REST APIs, CLI interfaces, and chat integrations.
  • Maintain and harden platform infrastructure, including containerized services on Linux, systemd timers, reverse proxies, PostgreSQL, Redis, and enterprise integrations with GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Author and refine structured workflows, prompt engineering, and system instructions to keep AI agents grounded and reliable.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD validation pipelines to catch invalid configurations, leaked credentials, and broken agent contracts, while guiding inner-source pull request reviews.
  • Track platform costs, token usage, and model tier selection to balance deterministic code versus LLM-powered workloads.

What you'll need

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience building software, applications, scripts, or services in Python or a comparable general-purpose programming language, with familiarity in version control, testing, debugging, and code review.
  • Practical experience developing, deploying, operating, or troubleshooting software in a Linux environment.
  • Hands-on experience implementing, integrating, extending, or operating Model Context Protocol (MCP) clients, servers, tools, or MCP-based workflows.
  • Hands-on experience building an AI agent or LLM-powered workflow that uses tools, APIs, structured workflows, files, databases, or external systems.
  • Experience building or integrating a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflow utilizing ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector search, metadata, or source context.

Nice to have

  • Experience with platform architecture, software-system design, and shell scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated validation, Docker, or Podman.
  • Experience with REST API development using FastAPI or similar Python web frameworks, as well as PostgreSQL and Redis data infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with enterprise APIs (GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Teams), Microsoft Teams bot development, or Power Automate.
  • Domain exposure to embedded systems, firmware, semiconductors, ASICs, or hardware/software integration.
