This internship focuses on RFIC design for cellular and Wi-Fi applications in the 700 MHz to 7 GHz frequency range.
About the role
This RFIC Design Engineering Intern role involves the architectural and feasibility study, design, simulation, and layout of various RF circuit blocks. You will work on power amplifier (PA), low noise amplifier (LNA), and RF switch designs based on GaAs and SOI technologies.
What you'll do
- Deliver new solutions for cellular and Wi-Fi applications (700 MHz to 7 GHz).
- Design, simulate, and layout RF circuit blocks like power amplifier (PA), low noise amplifier (LNA), and RF switch.
- Conduct active/passive circuit design and linear/nonlinear RF simulations using tools such as ADS, Cadence, and HFSS.
- Learn the Qorvo IC design flow from schematic level to fully assembled circuit.
- Present results, participate in design reviews, and work in the lab for characterizing/optimizing RF circuits.
What you'll need
- Pursuing B.S. (senior only), M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong background in RF/microwave circuit design, analog circuits, and electromagnetics.
- Experience with analog, RF, and electromagnetic (EM) simulation tools such as ADS, Cadence, and HFSS.
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience designing RFIC/MMIC circuit blocks such as PAs, LNAs, switches, couplers, filters, and attenuators using GaAs, SiGe, and/or SOI/CMOS based technologies.
- PCB, filter, and/or other passives (inductor, transformer, antenna) design experience.
- Familiarity with RF/microwave test equipment such as signal generator, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer.
- Data analysis and programming skills such as MATLAB, Python, JMP, Spotfire, and ADS AEL.
- Published authorship in technical journals, conferences, and/or magazines.

How we counted: 267 open RF/Wireless Engineering (RF Frontend) roles from 34 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 2 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Analog & Mixed-Signal family row.
