About the role
This role drives the optimization, stability, and continuous improvement of diffusion and epitaxy (DIFF/EPI) wafer fabrication processes. You will serve as the primary point of accountability for process health, yield optimization, and equipment performance.
What you'll do
- Establish direction for process sustaining, improvements, and overall operation within diffusion and epitaxy.
- Collaborate with process and integration engineers to improve SPC, yield, parametrics, defect density, and first-pass success on technology transfers.
- Lead selection, qualification, matching, and production ramp readiness of semiconductor processing tools.
- Conduct root cause investigations of discrepant material and execute process excursion troubleshooting.
- Develop new semiconductor manufacturing processes using design of experiments (DOE) and implement advanced process control to improve Cpk.
- Harden fault detection and classification (FDC) strategies and partner with equipment engineering to enhance tool uptime, utilization, and flexibility.
What you'll need
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in a semiconductor wafer fabrication environment specifically focused on diffusion or epitaxy processes.
- Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and semiconductor software monitoring tools.
- Proven experience designing experiments (DOE), analyzing data, and summarizing technical findings.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and data visualization.

How we counted: 1026 open Process Engineering (Semiconductor Process) roles from 55 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 8 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
