$100,000 - $142,000 USD yearly
About the role
This role supports and enhances PVD and CVD deposition processes in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. The work focuses on sustaining production, driving process improvements, and supporting new technology qualifications for vacuum-based deposition systems.
What you'll do
- Sustain and optimize PVD and CVD metal and liner processes in a high-volume fab environment.
- Troubleshoot yield issues and lead root cause analysis and excursion response using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D and FMEA.
- Perform process characterization, chamber optimization, tool matching, and qualification for new tools and upgrades.
- Drive continuous improvement in fab yield, defectivity, and tool performance using DOE and statistical methods.
- Support process transfers, technology ramps into production, and preventive maintenance optimization.
- Collaborate with Integration, Equipment, Yield, and Quality teams across the organization.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in HiVac/metal deposition process engineering, or 2+ years with an advanced degree.
- Strong knowledge of PVD systems, metal deposition, and barrier/liner processes.
- Proficiency in data analysis, DOE, and statistical tools such as JMP.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, FMEA, and 8D methodologies.
- Familiarity with MES systems such as PROMIS.
Nice to have
- Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Experience with tools such as AMAT Endura, SIP, or similar HiVac platforms.
Skills: PVD, CVD, High-volume manufacturing, metal deposition, liner processes, AMAT Endura

How we counted: 72 open Process Engineering (Deposition Process) roles from 22 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 8 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row.
