Focuses on fabrication process development and characterization for III-V quantum dot lasers.
About the role
Core responsibilities include the development, optimization, and execution of optoelectronic semiconductor device fabrication processes from early-stage concept demonstrations to small-volume product prototyping and manufacturing. The position involves cleanroom material and device characterization and fabrication research for III-V quantum dot lasers.
What you'll do
- Conduct research for III-V quantum dot lasers, covering material characterization, fabrication process development, and optimization for device packaging.
- Perform semiconductor device fabrication directly using deposition, lithography, etching, and metrology tools.
- Coordinate with other professionals to select materials for specific products and develop methods to use existing materials.
- Evaluate technical specifications relating to the design objectives of processes or products.
What you'll need
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science.
- Hands-on experience in semiconductor device fabrication, specifically III-V and silicon processes including wet & dry etching, photolithography, and thin film deposition.
- Hands-on experience using cleanroom characterization tools such as SEM, optical microscopy, Nomarski microscopy, AFM, and ellipsometry.
- Familiarity with mask layout software.
- Ability to perform DOE (Design of Experiments) and failure analysis.
Nice to have
- Basic knowledge of semiconductor materials, semiconductor lasers, and optoelectronic devices.
- Previous experience in semiconductor laser characterization.
