About the role
The Principal Engineer, Product Quality owns quality for one or more products across Ayar Labs product families, working with design, test, firmware, operations, and manufacturing teams to drive PPM targets. The role oversees quality systems and execution for fabless semiconductor and module products including co-packaged optics (CPO).
What you'll do
- Own quality across product lifecycles, ensuring products meet Ayar Labs and ISO-9001 standards across Document Control, Revision Control, Material Review Board, Change Action Board, Calibration, and Product Traceability.
- Define, facilitate, and maintain Design FMEA across all disciplines over the product lifetime, and support Process FMEA with Manufacturing Quality Engineering.
- Lead, track, and resolve product quality issues across multiple locations and disciplines using root cause and preventive action methods.
- Review and approve program gates, design reviews, and ECO/DCOs, and coordinate BOM entries with engineering, supply chain, and operations.
- Establish real-time data hooks into external partners to monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) and First Pass Yield (FPY) to detect trends proactively.
What you'll need
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Optical Sciences, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- 10 to 12 years of experience in Quality, Engineering, and/or Operations within the semiconductor or electronics industries.
- Deep experience managing and auditing an established QMS (ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949).
- Deep experience managing quality through external foundries, OSATs, and/or Tier 1 contract manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing and/or advanced packaging, and/or familiarity with photonics, transceivers, or laser module assembly (ELSFP).
Nice to have
- Experience with Quality Management Software (e.g., Arena, Propel, or ETQ).
