About the role
Define complex power electronics system architectures (1 - 250 kW) meeting electrical performance, reliability, safety, scalability, and cost requirements for Infrastructure and Server/Datacenter applications. Influence solution and IC roadmaps across voltage regulators, power-supply controllers, gate drivers, and discrete power switches.
What you'll do
- Define power electronics system architectures across the 1 - 250 kW range, breaking down systems into modular, scalable, and reusable subsystems for communications and datacenter infrastructure.
- Lead system-level trade-off studies balancing power density, efficiency, reliability, bill of materials (BOM), and manufacturing complexity.
- Develop and approve system specifications, design methodologies, and technical requirements ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
- Guide modeling and simulation of power electronics systems in MATLAB Simulink and circuit simulation environments.
- Provide technical leadership for Proof-of-Concept and reference-design programs from schematic implementation through system validation and customer enablement.
- Shape solution and IC roadmaps for datacenter and infrastructure power systems, engaging with customers, ecosystem partners, and cross-functional engineering teams.
What you'll need
- MSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience in power-system and power-electronics architecture, design, and development across the 1 - 250 kW range.
- Expert knowledge of power-conversion topologies (AC-DC, inverter, isolated DC-DC converters, LDO, buck, boost, and buck-boost), magnetics, control theory, and discrete power devices (MOSFET, IGBT, GaN, SiC).
- Substantial experience designing power-electronics systems using wide-bandgap devices, including GaN and SiC.
- Advanced proficiency with simulation tools such as MATLAB Simulink, SIMetrix/Simplis, and SPICE.
- Hands-on understanding of schematic design, PCB layout, thermal management, safety, and EMC/EMI mitigation for high-power applications.
- Deep experience in power-supply architectures for communication infrastructure, datacenters, traditional servers, and AI servers.
Nice to have
- PhD in Electrical Engineering.
- Direct engagement with hyperscale customers or platform partners.
- Evidence of broader technical impact, including patents, publications, standards participation, or conference contributions.

How we counted: 56 open Power Electronics (Power Conversion) roles from 22 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 5 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Analog & Mixed-Signal family row.
