About the role
Lead a global team of power system architects and engineers responsible for Infrastructure and Server/Datacenter power solutions spanning the 1 to 250 kW range. You will own the technical strategy, architecture principles, and delivery of power electronics platforms from concept through customer enablement.
What you'll do
- Lead, coach, and develop a global team of power system architects and engineers, managing resource allocation, hiring, and program roadmaps across Proof-of-Concept and reference-design programs.
- Own the technical strategy and portfolio of power electronics system architectures (1 - 250 kW), ensuring alignment with electrical performance, reliability, safety, power density, and cost.
- Provide technical and managerial oversight from architecture and simulation through schematic implementation, PCB layout review, system validation, and customer enablement.
- Conduct system-level trade-off analysis across efficiency, thermal management, manufacturability, EMC/EMI mitigation, and total solution cost.
- Partner with Chip Design, Applications, Software, and Product Marketing to translate customer requirements and market needs into Renesas product and technology roadmaps.
What you'll need
- MSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience in power-system and power-electronics architecture, design, and development across the 1 - 250 kW range.
- Proven direct management and people leadership experience developing engineers or architects in a global, matrixed organization.
- Expert knowledge of power-conversion topologies (AC-DC, inverter, isolated DC-DC converters, LDO, and switch-mode topologies such as buck, boost, and buck-boost), magnetics, control theory, and discrete power devices (MOSFET, IGBT, GaN, SiC).
- Strong understanding of power-electronics and system simulation tools including MATLAB Simulink, SIMetrix/Simplis, and SPICE.
- Hands-on technical background in schematic design, PCB layout, thermal management, safety, and EMC/EMI mitigation for high-power applications.
- Experience with power-supply architectures for communication infrastructure, datacenters, traditional servers, and AI servers.
Nice to have
- PhD in Electrical Engineering.
- Direct engagement with hyperscale customers or platform partners.
- Evidence of broader technical impact such as patents, publications, standards participation, or conference contributions.

How we counted: 56 open Power Electronics (Power Conversion) roles from 22 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 5 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Analog & Mixed-Signal family row.
