About the role

This role involves power design and validation for AMD Data Center GPU products, supporting ODM/OEM/Customers on the full product lifecycle from simulation to lab validation and debugging.

What you'll do

  • Work with ODM/OEM/Customer on design review, simulate, verify, and optimize high-efficiency DC-DC power solutions for high-performance CPU/GPU platforms.
  • Review customer schematic, PCB layout, and component selection to meet power delivery requirements.
  • Conduct PDN (power delivery network) simulation and analysis, ensuring power integrity.
  • Validate and debug power solutions in the lab using oscilloscopes and e-loads.
  • Document test reports, design specifications, and best practices for power solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends in power electronics and energy-efficient technologies.

What you'll need

  • BS or above in Electrical/Electronic/Power Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in power hardware design, preferably for high-speed computing platforms (CPUs, GPUs, ASICs).
  • Experience with DC-DC converter topologies (buck, boost, multiphase), PWM controllers, MOSFET, and power stage.
  • Knowledge of PCB layout considerations for power circuits (e.g., parasitic reduction).
  • Ability to validate and debug power solution in the lab using oscilloscopes and e-loads.
  • Familiarity with x86 system power management feature.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in Server or Data center rack, including power shelf technology, battery management, charger, and understanding of EC/BIOS/ACPI.
  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g., Simplis, SPICE, PowerDC, Ansys SIWave).
  • PDN and PI analysis capability.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques in power designs.
  • Familiarity with thermal management solutions for high-power-density systems.
  • Exposure to MCU-based, FPGA-based prototyping or scripting (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) for automation.
