About the role
As a Power Electronics Engineer on the ADI Power uModule Team, you will characterize and qualify DC-DC converters, power modules, and semiconductor devices through hands-on laboratory testing. The position combines product measurements, test-hardware integration, troubleshooting, data review, and safe laboratory operation.
What you'll do
- Test DC-DC converters, power modules, and semiconductor devices using power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, current probes, and temperature measurements. - Interpret switching waveforms, voltage and current behavior, efficiency, transient response, regulation, and temperature to identify product, measurement, or setup issues. - Select measurement methods and adapt fixtures, wiring, sensing, and instrumentation for new product requirements. - Run electrical and thermal derating and automated power-cycling tests, verify conditions, monitor tests, investigate anomalies, and document results. - Assemble or modify test hardware and troubleshoot product behavior and test setups during late-stage bring-up.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. - Knowledge of switching converters, electrical measurements, transient behavior, and thermal performance. - Hands-on experience with power-electronics hardware and instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, probes, sensors, or data acquisition equipment. - Ability to read schematics, assemble or modify test hardware, interpret measurements, and troubleshoot product behavior and test setups during late-stage bring-up. - Ability to analyze results, document findings, and communicate clearly.
Nice to have
- Experience testing power semiconductor devices, DC-DC converters, power modules, or uModule products. - Experience monitoring extended automated characterization or qualification tests. - Familiarity with Allegro, Altium Designer, or similar PCB tools for new or modified test hardware. - Experience designing test fixtures, wiring harnesses, or custom hardware interfaces. - Familiarity with automated test equipment and data acquisition systems. - Knowledge of thermal management, environmental testing, or reliability laboratory practices.
