Design RF power amplifiers and multi-chip module RFICs using Keysight ADS and Ansys HFSS.
About the role
Skyworks Irvine Design Center is seeking a Power Amplifier (PA) Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Co-Op for the January–June 2027 term. You will participate in the design and development of radio frequency (RF) front-end modules and RFICs for multi-chip modules.
What you'll do
- Work with engineers to design and develop RF Integrated Circuits (RFICs) for multi-chip modules.
- Design RF power amplifiers.
- Run simulations using design tools such as Keysight ADS and Ansys HFSS.
- Participate in and present during design reviews.
- Perform laboratory testing using standard RF test equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design and technical issues.
What you'll need
- Current enrollment in a Master's or Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Commitment to working on-site in Irvine for the duration of the January–June 2027 co-op term.
- Familiarity with amplifier operating modes, including Class A, AB, C, E, and F, as well as load modulation techniques such as Doherty power amplifier design.
- Familiarity with Digital Predistortion (DPD), memory effects, and their impact on power amplifier design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Nice to have
- Experience with Keysight ADS.
- Hands-on laboratory experience using a network analyzer and other RF test instruments.
- Understanding of Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) technology.
Skills: Power Amplifier, RFIC, Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, RF test equipment, HBT technology
