About the role
AMD is hiring a PMTS Software System Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and test operating systems for semiconductor operations.
What you'll do
- Develop systems-level software, tools, and operating systems in support of design, infrastructure, and technology platforms.
- Evaluate and co-develop x86 ISA in partnership with IP architecture and design teams.
- Lead debug efforts, troubleshoot PC systems, and provide root cause analysis guidance to internal design teams.
- Determine hardware compatibility and influence hardware design through engineering analysis.
- Provide guidance and long-range strategy to upcoming developers while contributing to performance, automation, and development.
What you'll need
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 5 years of experience (or Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience).
- 5 years of experience with x86 computing architecture and microarchitecture.
- 5 years of experience as an upstream Linux kernel maintainer.
- 5 years of experience with confidential computing and CPU vulnerability mitigations.
- 5 years of experience with kernels, virtualization, and security.
- 5 years of experience with open source projects, particularly Linux KVM and open source VMMs including QEMU.
- 5 years of experience across the entire software development lifecycle.
