About the role
AMD is hiring a PMTS Software Development Engineer to identify and analyze AMD strengths and weaknesses in application performance, locate bottlenecks, and design mitigation solutions.
What you'll do
- Identify and analyze application performance bottlenecks using source code and profiling tools to design solutions or workarounds.
- Work with AMD architecture specialists to evaluate performance characteristics and influence future products.
- Research alternative, efficient implementation techniques and collaborate with partner software vendors on co-engineering efforts.
- Contribute performance improvements to open source projects and track hardware and software trends across algorithms and architecture.
- Apply engineering principles to the design, development, and testing of AMD proprietary products.
What you'll need
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 5 years of experience (or a Bachelor's degree with 7 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience).
- 5 years of experience shipping code with SIMD intrinsics such as AVX512, plus x86 or x64 assembly language.
- 5 years of experience in C or C++ programming, interpreted languages such as Python and JavaScript, and modern source version control such as Git or Mercurial.
- 5 years of experience investigating compiler code generation (such as LLVM auto-vectorization) and compiler development.
- 5 years of experience with CPU architecture, performance optimization or ISA optimization, and power or performance tuning.
- 5 years of experience developing highly parallel applications and algorithms using modern concurrent programming and threading APIs, as well as WebAssembly or Web standards development.
