Define the hardware/software contract for Asimov AI inference silicon.
About the role
As a Platform Software Architect, you will define the hardware/software contract for Asimov and subsequent generations. This role involves maintaining a cross-generation view and making durable interface decisions for AI inference silicon.
What you'll do
- Define multi-generation platform software architecture for current Asimov silicon and future architectures.
- Specify stable, versioned interfaces for boot, commands, memory, DMA, C2C, scheduling, telemetry, errors, reset, security, and host/device interaction.
- Integrate GOLD, Asimov interpreter and runtime, libasimov, firmware, Linux, simulation, and post-silicon tools into one coherent architecture.
- Lead architecture reviews, document decisions and trade-offs, and drive cross-team issues to closure.
- Build prototypes or reference code for risky interfaces.
- Partner with Product Security and Performance Systems to ensure protection, observability, debuggability, and throughput are architectural properties.
What you'll need
- 10+ years of experience in low-level platform software, firmware, operating systems, runtimes, device drivers, compilers, or adjacent systems, with architecture-level ownership.
- Deep understanding of computer architecture, memory systems, concurrency, device I/O, hardware/software interfaces, and system bring-up.
- Strong C or C++ skills.
- Proven ability to influence multiple engineering teams.
- Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous product and silicon goals into precise interfaces, milestones, and testable system behavior.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI accelerators, GPUs, networking or storage ASICs, or other high-performance devices.
- Hands-on experience spanning pre-silicon models, emulation, first silicon, and production software.
- Familiarity with trusted boot, model protection, distributed inference, KV-cache systems, or performance modeling.

How we counted: 1022 open Infrastructure/Platform Software (Infrastructure Platform) roles from 93 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 8 Nov 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
