About the role
Apple is seeking a Performance and Modeling Engineer in Austin, Texas, to model GPU architectural functionality to a pixel-accurate level using C++ for feature validation and performance studies.
What you'll do
- Model GPU architectural functionality to a pixel-accurate level using C++ for feature validation and performance studies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define GPU feature coverage, validation strategies, and execution plans.
- Develop and maintain GPU software testing and regression infrastructure using Python and Kotlin.
- Triage model and simulation regressions, and analyze logs and traces to root-cause architectural, functional, or test environment failures.
- Enhance model infrastructure by writing and enhancing debugging tools, logging systems, and utilities.
- Write and maintain testbenches and validation scenarios for new GPU architectural features, and review architecture specifications from a validation perspective.
What you'll need
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering or a related field and 6 months of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
- Experience utilizing C or C++ and CPU or GPU architecture to write high-level functional models.
- Experience using graphics modeling and implementation of GPU architecture and features to validate performance or functionality of new features.
- Experience leveraging CPU modeling and implementation of CPU pipeline and cache systems to validate high-level functional CPU or GPU models.
- Experience utilizing scripting languages such as Python or Perl to optimize testing and infrastructure environments.
- Experience building, testing, implementing, and analyzing new features in a GPU model.
