About the role
Investigate and evaluate optical fiber solutions for photonic packaging.
What you'll do
- Perform technical evaluation and measurements of novel multifiber arrangements.
- Execute fiber design tasks, including simulations of fiber coupling, multimode transmission characteristics, and refractive index profile optimization.
- Conduct fiber characterization by measuring key parameters including attenuation, bandwidth, and dispersion.
- Carry out hands-on preparation of fiber measurements and fiber assemblies.
- Drive cost-performance optimization for fiber implementations.
- Identify, qualify, and manage supplier relationships, quality, delivery, and cost performance while collaborating with systems engineering and optical packaging teams.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of experience in fiber design and measurements.
- Understanding of optical fiber design, passive fiber connectivity, silicon photonics, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of fiber materials including fused silica, borosilicate, and plastics.
- Experience with optical simulation tools such as RSoft, COMSOL Multiphysics, Lumerical, MATLAB, or Python-based fiber simulation libraries.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field.
