About the role
This role involves applying mechanical engineering expertise in opto-electronic packaging or networking switch design to develop solutions for silicon photonic engines and advanced networking switch concepts.
What you'll do
- Perform thermal simulations to determine thermal resistances, power dissipation, and mechanical stress over temperature.
- Use Flotherm and Ansys to simulate and optimize models of complex electronic assemblies.
- Provide reports on simulation results and findings from failure analysis.
- Develop new products, including execution on concepts, design, drawings, vendor selection, part evaluation, and product builds.
- Generate designs and perform tolerance analysis of opto-mechanical structures.
- Conduct failure analysis and design of experiment.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in opto-mechanical designs.
- Proficient in mechanical design using CAD tools (Solidworks preferred), Flotherm or Ansys.
- Knowledge of how to design sheet metal, castings, injection mold parts, material/vendor selection, and first article assessment.
