About the role
This role supports manufacturing operations within the Semiconductor Infrastructure Solutions Division by performing glass blowing processes for Keysight's laser tube product line. Technical responsibilities focus on Borosilicate glass fabrication, glass-to-metal sealing, and high vacuum station operation.
What you'll do
- Perform glass blowing processes with Borosilicate glass, specifically Schott 8250, including fabrication and modification of glass-to-metal house-keeper seals, ring seals, precision butt seals, and bench work.
- Operate glass blowing lathes, torches, burners, dial indicators, high vacuum systems, turbo pumps, dry pumps, solvent cleaning processes, and baking/annealing ovens and controllers.
- Complete laser tube assembly, glass-sealing on and off of a vacuum system glass manifold, and laser burn-in operations.
- Execute quality control for laser fabrication, test, and vacuum processes, including leak checking, bake-out, contamination control, and partial pressure analysis via residual gas analysis.
- Set up, operate, and maintain furnaces, annealing ovens, vacuum systems, glass lathes, and finishing equipment while inspecting and measuring finished products with calipers, micrometers, and magnifiers.
What you'll need
- 3-5 years of experience in technical glass blowing, preferably in a high-technology industry.
- 3-5 years of experience assembling, aligning, and testing complex products.
- Understanding of glass strain, annealing operations, and the use of a polariscope.
- Demonstrated ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, written instruction procedures, specifications, and maintenance manuals.
- Ability to use Windows-based PCs, including navigating folders, managing files, Microsoft Office Suite, and Oracle.
- Willingness to use Statistical Process Control tools in a production-oriented environment.
Nice to have
- Experience working in a Class 1000 clean room and familiarity with clean room protocols.
- Experience with high voltage laser equipment and testing, partial pressure analysis via Residual Gas Analyzers, and basic maintenance of support equipment.
