About the role
The Manager, Passive Components leads a team responsible for the design, optimization, integration, and validation of novel photonic structures, devices, and subsystems for a linear optic quantum computer (LOQC). The role oversees passive photonic component development, simulation automation infrastructure, and process design kit (PDK) device libraries.
What you'll do
- Lead the development of passive photonic components, photonic device libraries, and process design kits (PDK).
- Interact with device, hardware, and software design teams to support overall development of photonics and quantum optics systems and devices.
- Lead the creation of simulation automation techniques and infrastructure to support photonic device design, model development, and performance validation.
- Support foundry tapeouts with photonic device design, design of experiments (DOE), layout, device validation, data analysis, failure mode analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Provide multi-disciplinary engineering support across component and systems teams to resolve technical issues associated with parts, products, and systems.
- Apply quantitative analysis to determine root causes of technical problems and implement corrective action solutions.
What you'll need
- PhD or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics.
- 10 years of relevant work or academic research experience in integrated photonics.
- 2 years of project and/or people management experience.
- Strong fundamentals in electro-magnetic theory and the design and characterization of photonic devices and circuits.
- Extensive experience with simulation platforms, particularly Lumerical, for designing and simulating photonic devices and circuits.
- Proven experience executing complex cross-department projects.
