About the role
This role supports the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and infrastructure needs of R&D engineering laboratories to ensure environments and equipment remain operational, reliable, and available for R&D development and testing activities.
What you'll do
- Support the installation, relocation, configuration, connectivity, and deployment of networking and computing equipment in R&D laboratories.
- Serve as a liaison with IT for Austin site IT infrastructure changes, including IT network connectivity, switches, cabling, IP addressing, and access.
- Coordinate equipment hardware RMA activities, including troubleshooting, shipment, replacement, and return of defective equipment.
- Coordinate with Facilities and HVAC support to ensure laboratory environmental conditions, electrical power, and HVAC operations meet equipment needs.
- Monitor and troubleshoot laboratory infrastructure and equipment issues, coordinating with internal or external organizations for resolution.
- Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of laboratory equipment, network connections, rack configurations, and other relevant lab infrastructure.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting engineering laboratories, computer/networking equipment, or IT infrastructure.
- Fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Ethernet, LAN/WAN technologies, IP addressing, VLANs, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting techniques.
- Fundamental knowledge of IT infrastructure, including servers, computers, operating systems, network connectivity, and laboratory computing environments.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, connectivity, and infrastructure issues.
- Experience with equipment installation, rack-and-stack activities, cabling, equipment moves, and laboratory infrastructure changes.
- Strong documentation and communication skills, including the ability to maintain equipment inventories, lab documentation, and support records via the Jira tool.
Nice to have
- CCIE certification or other relevant networking certifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
