Design passive and tunable optical filters for wavelength-division-multiplexing photonic integrated circuits.
About the role
As a Photonics Design Intern, you will design devices enabling wavelength-division-multiplexing systems, including advanced passive and tunable optical filters. You will support the selection and design of devices for photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
What you'll do
- Design passive and tunable optical filter devices for wavelength-division-multiplexing systems.
- Leverage test capabilities and data from previously taped-out devices to evaluate device performance.
- Create optimized exploratory design submissions for photonic components.
- Support device selection and integration for production PIC designs.
- Write structured code and contribute to a team-maintained codebase.
What you'll need
- Active enrollment in a PhD program in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field with a photonics specialization.
- Proficiency with Python, including experience developing code within a team environment.
- Understanding of photonic devices, including couplers, micro-ring resonators, and gratings.
- Experience with optical simulation and design tools, such as FDTD.
