What you'll do
- Characterize and analyze photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
- Improve and automate existing PIC characterization tools and analysis methodologies.
- Investigate PICs with various functionalities for atypical applications.
- Simulate and design integrated components and circuits.
- Perform hands-on laboratory work.
What you'll need
- Completed a B.S. degree in an engineering or science discipline.
- Graduate student majoring in Optics, Photonics, Physics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong familiarity with PICs, including integrated waveguide types, fiber-to-chip coupling techniques, passive components (directional couplers, polarization splitters, rings, MMI's), and active components (photodetectors, modulators, heaters, lasers).
- Hands-on experience with both optical and electrical test and measurement instrumentation.
- Python programming skills and familiarity with engineering packages (Numpy, Matplotlib).
- Experience in PIC component simulation, modeling, and design.
