About the role

Industrial Engineers in this role own and improve lab infrastructure readiness and space utilization by maintaining power and cooling systems of record, conducting feasibility studies, and standardizing planning assumptions. The scope involves modeling demand versus capacity and evaluating infrastructure upgrades across critical engineering lab environments.

What you'll do

- Maintain an audit-ready system of record for lab infrastructure attributes, including power, cooling, and operational constraints. - Perform site assessments and technical due diligence to validate capacity, document upgrade requirements, and evaluate risks. - Model lab demand versus capacity, identify bottlenecks, and translate forecasted demand into sequencing recommendations. - Translate equipment and workflow needs into space requirements while establishing layout standards, scorecards, and utilization benchmarks. - Evaluate candidate spaces through option trade studies comparing reuse, upgrade, and new build paths with associated cost and risk inputs. - Partner with Facilities/QREF, IT/Networking, EHS, and lab operations teams to validate requirements and maintain code and safety standards.

What you'll need

- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Industrial Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). - 5 years of relevant experience in lab, facilities, critical environments, manufacturing, or infrastructure planning. - Working knowledge of building electrical distribution and cooling concepts, including heat-load estimation, airflow constraints, and capacity versus demand. - Experience conducting site assessments and due diligence to formulate feasibility recommendations and documented risks. - Experience with Excel-based modeling, structured datasets, and analytical stakeholder communication.

Nice to have

- Experience supporting R&D or specialty labs, such as high-density compute facilities. - Proficiency with Power BI, SQL, or Python. - Experience applying AI/ML techniques for data quality, document extraction, or capacity analytics. - Familiarity with layout tools such as AutoCAD or Visio. - Professional Engineer (PE) license (Electrical/Mechanical), Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
