This internship offers exposure to high-purity acid, base, and solvent systems, as well as ultra-pure gases.
About the role
This role involves supporting the engineering and operations of critical utility systems within a semiconductor manufacturing environment. You will gain exposure to chemical and gas distribution systems, water treatment, and project management for facility infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Gain exposure to high-purity acid, base, and solvent systems, and ultra-pure gases.
- Learn about Chemical Distribution Units (CDUs), Valve Manifold Boxes (VMBs), Gas Cabinets, and Cryogenic Tanks.
- Assist in understanding de-ionized and ultrapure water systems, including reverse osmosis, ion exchange, and ultrafiltration processes.
- Support the team in reviewing system capacity vs. demand, troubleshooting, and performing systems assessments.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in reliability-driven tasks such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Support the engineering analysis, design, and installation oversight of chemical and gas distribution systems.
- Assist with projects ranging from individual component installations to large-scale factory-wide distribution systems.
- Coordinate with diverse engineering disciplines, contractors, and suppliers to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Assist in reviewing construction documentation (submittals/RFIs) and participate in the commissioning process.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA or higher.
Nice to have
- Strong interest in semiconductor manufacturing, industrial utility systems, or large-scale facility operations.
- Basic understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, or chemical properties.

How we counted: 3787 open Semiconductor Equipment Engineering (Manufacturing Equipment) roles from 83 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 15 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Process, Fab & Equipment family row. Figures refresh nightly.
