About the role
OpenLight Photonics is hiring engineering interns across photonics, PIC engineering, reliability, and test engineering. Roles focus on silicon photonics technology and photonic integrated circuits across modeling, design layout, and automated lab testing.
What you'll do
- Implement and run quality assurance on photonic device modeling tools and workflows, optimizing design models for photonic devices and integrated circuits.
- Support the design, layout, verification, simulation, and characterization of photonic integrated circuit (PIC) components.
- Build and modify system-level photonic test stations including PIC evaluation boards, optical spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Write Python code to execute and automate test programs, analyze data, and generate test reports.
- Document design results, participate in design reviews, and collaborate across photonics, process, and fabrication teams.
What you'll need
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Applied Material Science, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- Experience with photonics simulation tools or integrated circuit design.
- Basic software coding experience in Python.
- Basic experience operating lab equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- Availability to work onsite in Santa Clara, CA or Goleta, CA as required by the role.
