About the role
The Senior Director of Engineering (Firmware & Systems) leads the wireless engineering team supporting multiple business units, including Connected Edge Solutions and Audio & Gaming. In addition to managing cross-geographic teams, this role serves as technical architect driving product architecture and design across firmware, hardware, and systems.
What you'll do
- Drive the system architecture and design for the wireless platform.
- Lead software and firmware design and development across US and India locations.
- Work closely with senior leadership to plan new product introductions into the market.
- Innovate new communications methods on top of unlicensed (ISM) bands.
- Drive system-wide improvements from FEMs to upper layer software.
What you'll need
- BS in Electrical Engineering (EE).
- 20+ years of experience building, developing, and leading software and firmware teams in wireless technology.
- Hands-on experience with MAC protocols, including IEEE802.11, BT, and Cellular.
- Hands-on experience with networking protocols.
- Experience with hardware bring-up, validation, and on-chip debug.
- Experience leading teams through development on RISC-V and DSP environments.
Nice to have
- MSEE degree.
- Working knowledge of peripherals (such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB, PCIe) and BSP drivers (such as Secure boot, GPIOs, Debug).
- Experience with baseband PHY algorithms and optimizations.
- Conceptual understanding of data converters and RF signal chains.
- Knowledge of mesh and star network protocols.
- Knowledge of the IEEE802.11 family of standards (PHY and up) and Cellular/5G (Access Stratum).
