Focus on neural network modeling and algorithm implementation for analog compute-in-memory (ACIM) architectures.
About the role
As an Engineer II - Design, you will focus on compute-in-memory neural network modeling and algorithm implementation within the Design Engineering team. You will support analog compute-in-memory (ACIM) architecture development, modeling, integration, and performance, power, and area (PPA) analysis.
What you'll do
- Develop neural network models for CNNs, transformers, LLMs, and RNNs targeted for analog compute-in-memory (ACIM) systems. - Model variation, mismatch, and PPA (power, performance, and area) across ACIM components and solutions. - Implement ACIM algorithms and contribute to hardware architecture development. - Translate product specifications and neural network performance targets into design requirements and plans. - Coordinate with design, technology, process, and test teams to analyze simulations, timing, integration, and technical trade-offs.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field. - 2.5–5 years of experience or research in neural network modeling for compute-in-memory or neuromorphic computing. - Hands-on experience with neural network modeling for compute-in-memory systems. - Knowledge of neural network architectures, including MLPs, GRUs, CNNs, and small language models (sLLMs).
Nice to have
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. - Experience with RISC-V architecture. - Knowledge of nonvolatile memory technologies and semiconductor device physics. - Knowledge of VLSI design flows and computer architecture. - Experience with CAD and design tools, such as HSPICE/HSIM, Verilog, and Cadence Design Entry. - Knowledge of programming and scripting languages, such as Python, Tcl, C++, or SystemC. - Experience with validation, debugging, and testing.

How we counted: 507 open AI/ML Hardware Engineering (AI ML Hardware) roles from 76 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 24 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
