This PhD internship within Graphcore Research focuses on problems where algorithms, hardware, and systems intersect, including large-scale LLM training and efficient inference.

What you'll do

- Implement models and algorithms addressing questions shaped by real-world hardware and software challenges. - Design experiments across research areas such as large-scale pretraining and post-training of LLMs, efficient inference, numerics, and model safety. - Analyze experimental evidence, interpret findings, and prepare results for publication or internal technical discussion. - Collaborate with researchers and engineers to explore how algorithmic advances interact with AI compute systems.

What you'll need

- Current enrolment in a PhD program specialising in AI or machine learning. - Strong coding ability in Python or C++, demonstrated through projects, research, or practical experience. - Experience implementing algorithms in machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch. - The ability to design experiments, interpret results, and communicate research findings clearly. - Right to work in the UK for the full duration of the programme without requiring visa sponsorship.
