About the role
The EDA / PDK Engineer provides design enablement collateral and design application support for semiconductor integrated circuit technologies, contributing to Process Design Kit (PDK) development and release. The scope covers digital and AMS IC design PDKs across CMOS, Photonics, and Quantum technologies.
What you'll do
- Design, document, characterize, and validate Digital and AMS IC design PDKs for new process technologies across CMOS, Photonics, and Quantum technologies. - Provide technical liaison and support between internal teams, design houses, vendors, and customers to ensure tape-out and manufacturing success. - Support customers utilizing SkyWater PDKs and IP collateral. - Manage and support third-party PDK and IP developers to ensure deliverables enable IC designers to design into SkyWater technologies. - Enhance, test, validate, and manage releases and version control for existing PDKs.
What you'll need
- BS with 3-5 years of experience or MS with 2-3 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline. - Prior experience in IC design or EDA development. - Understanding of digital IC design from architecture to RTL to GDSII, along with IC fabrication from tape-out to post-silicon validation and testing. - Hands-on familiarity with the EDA Physical Design flow across multiple process nodes using industry-standard EDA tools and PDKs. - Experience with Synopsys or Cadence Physical Implementation workflow development, such as Innovus or Fusion Compiler. - Compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
Nice to have
- Experience using Cadence, Mentor, and Synopsys analog design and layout tools, including PDK development. - Knowledge and experience with Linux systems and EDA tool installation and management. - Familiarity with verification and extraction tools such as Calibre, xACT 3D, Quantus, StarRC, or EM/IR tools like Voltus-FI. - Scripting experience in Python, Tcl, or Perl.
