About the role
As a Designer/Drafter Co-Op at the San Luis Obispo, CA site, you will collaborate with engineers and technicians to create detailed schematics, layouts, and design drawings using SolidWorks software. This assignment is a 6-month full-time co-op supporting new product development systems and manufacturing redlines.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with engineers to create detailed schematics and designs using SolidWorks. - Perform Manufacturing Redlines and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs). - Assist in drafting drawings for new product development systems. - Work closely with the engineering team to ensure precise layouts and high-quality designs. - Perform physical duties as assigned, including climbing ladders as needed.
What you'll need
- Current enrollment as a student eligible to participate in a university co-op program. - Availability to work 40 hours per week (Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm) from January through June. - Proficiency in CAD software, including SolidWorks. - Demonstrated ability to produce accurate technical drawings and layouts with strong attention to detail. - Ability to climb ladders as needed to perform job duties.
Nice to have
- At least 2 years of experience as a Drafter. - Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM) creation. - Knowledge of UL508A code requirements. - Design/build experience in an industrial equipment environment.
