About the role

This role is responsible for designing, characterizing, and integrating image sensor systems across bench and desk environments, bridging sensor, optics, mechanics, and electronics domains.

What you'll do

• Characterize CCD sensors across parameters including quantum efficiency, read noise, dark current, linearity, full well, and CTE.
• Design and debug sensor and sensor electronics, covering clocking, bias, and analog front end circuitry.
• Integrate sensors into camera assemblies during the prototyping phase, handling mounting, alignment, flatness, and thermal management troubleshooting.
• Build test setups, execute calibration routines, and analyze data to root-cause image artifacts.
• Collaborate with optical, firmware, electrical, and mechanical teams on system integration, documentation, and design reviews.
• Hand off systems and train the manufacturing team when projects transition into production.

What you'll need

• BS with 5+ years, MS with 3+ years, or Doctorate with related experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with CCD or CMOS imaging sensors.
• Experience troubleshooting analog, digital, and power supplies, including low-noise measurements and lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, source meters, and photometers.
• Mechanical aptitude for fixturing and assembly.
• Familiarity with PTC (photon transfer curve) analysis and sensor test methodology.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python or MATLAB for data analysis.
• Experience with cleanroom handling and ESD-safe assembly.
• Embedded or FPGA experience for sensor timing and readout.
• Background in cooled, scientific, or low-light imaging.
• Knowledge of optical alignment, interferometry, or flatness metrology.
• Experience taking a design from prototype to production.
