About the role
The Validation Engineer, Electro-Optical devices will be responsible for implementing methods and techniques to validate the performance of electro-optical subsystems, perform measurements, collect data, and provide reports. The role focuses on cryogenic electro-optical assemblies and test setups based on silicon photonics.
What you'll do
- Define figures of merit and validation plans for cryogenic electro-optical assemblies.
- Design and build laboratory setups comprised of light sources, detectors, switches, function generators, and oscilloscopes to validate assembly functionality in cryogenic environments.
- Contribute to the development of software scripts to automatically drive measurement setups and feed data into a database.
- Perform measurements and provide detailed reports, including expected yield indications.
- Execute validation plans, including debugging and characterization of cryogenic electro-optical assemblies.
- Review performance data and provide technical feedback to the electro-optical assembly design team.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s Degree or above in Engineering, Physics, or Material Science, and 5+ years of industry experience.
- Experience with testing in cryogenic environments.
- Experience working with optical and electrical test equipment such as optical power meters, lasers, optical spectrum analyzers (OSA), oscilloscopes, arbitrary waveform generators (AWG), and vector network analyzers (VNA).
- Experience developing test methods, optimization routines, and tuning or calibration algorithms.
Nice to have
- Experience working with single photon detectors.
- Experience working with optical fibers and photonic integrated circuits.
