About the role
Etched is seeking a Test Infrastructure Engineer to build and run the infrastructure behind factory testing of AI systems, from new product introduction through mass production. You will own the systems that provision and run test stations, aggregate test results and logs, and roll out test software across factory floors.
What you'll do
- Build and operate the test execution platform that runs factory tests across stations, servers, and racks. - Provision and manage the Linux fleet on the factory floor, including OS imaging, network boot, configuration management, and lifecycle automation. - Design and maintain the networking that test stations and racks depend on, working directly with factory partners on site. - Build data pipelines that capture test runs, logs, and hardware genealogy into a central view of test history, yield, and throughput. - Own versioned release, canary, and rollback workflows for factory test packages to deploy software safely. - Build monitoring and alerting across factory infrastructure, and integrate with contract manufacturers' factory systems (MES/SFIS) and shared internal data platforms.
What you'll need
- 3+ years of experience building and operating production infrastructure. - Strong Linux administration skills covering boot process, package management, systemd, storage, and command-line debugging. - Solid networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs. - Experience with distributed systems that maintain availability across node failures. - Strong coding skills in Python, C++, or Rust for building tools and services. - Experience with automation and configuration management (such as Ansible or Terraform), CI/CD, and monitoring tools like Prometheus or Grafana. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Experience with bare-metal server fleets, lab or datacenter automation, or HPC clusters (such as PXE or Slurm). - Experience with server management interfaces such as BMC, IPMI, or Redfish. - Familiarity with manufacturing test infrastructure, test automation platforms, or factory software (MES, SFIS). - Experience with AI servers, GPU or accelerator systems, or high-performance compute platforms. - Experience working with contract manufacturers; Mandarin language skills.
Skills: Linux, PXE, Ansible, CI/CD, Prometheus, Python

How we counted: 1016 open Infrastructure/Platform Software (Infrastructure Platform) roles from 91 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 28 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
