Lead silicon validation and bench characterization for Delta-Sigma ADCs and precision mixed-signal products.

About the role

The Technical Staff Validation Engineer in the Mixed-Signal and Linear Division (MSLD) leads silicon validation and characterization strategies for Delta-Sigma ADCs and precision mixed-signal products. The role spans first-silicon bring-up through product release, developing bench-level hardware, test fixtures, and automated test platforms.

What you'll do

- Define validation requirements and methodologies for ADC parameters, including SNR, SINAD, THD, THD+N, SFDR, ENOB, INL, DNL, offset, gain error, noise, linearity, input bandwidth, and reference performance. - Design precision bench-level hardware, evaluation boards, test fixtures, signal-conditioning circuitry, and automated measurement platforms. - Lead first-silicon bring-up and debug across voltage, temperature, frequency, sampling rate, and operating modes, isolating issues among DUT, test hardware, instrumentation, firmware/software, and silicon design. - Develop automated characterization environments using NI PXI/PXIe instrumentation, LabVIEW, Python, or MATLAB to improve measurement repeatability, throughput, and data analysis. - Correlate bench measurements with design expectations, simulation results, and datasheet specifications while supporting product qualification and release decisions. - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to validation engineers in precision measurement, ADC characterization, hardware development, and automation.

What you'll need

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline. - 12+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor validation, characterization, mixed-signal test, or a closely related discipline. - Deep understanding of Delta-Sigma ADCs, including oversampling, quantization noise, noise shaping, decimation filters, digital filtering, sampling theory, aliasing, and ADC noise mechanisms. - Demonstrated experience in ADC performance characterization covering SNR, SINAD, THD, THD+N, SFDR, ENOB, FFT-based dynamic analysis, INL, DNL, offset, gain error, and noise spectral density. - Hands-on analog hardware skills in PCB bring-up, signal integrity, grounding, shielding, power integrity, low-noise design, clock distribution, reference circuits, and precision signal conditioning. - Experience with laboratory instrumentation such as precision signal generators, Audio Precision analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, digital multimeters, power supplies, and NI PXI/PXIe instrumentation. - Experience developing automated validation systems using LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, and common digital interfaces such as SPI and I²C.

Nice to have

- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.

Skills: Delta-Sigma, ADC, silicon validation, SNR, SINAD, bench characterization
