About the role
This role contributes to the specification, architecture, design, and development of integrated circuits from initial concept through production quality for Ethernet and USB products. The position focuses on designing and architecting in-silicon macros for High-Speed Datacom SERDES within the Networking and Connectivity Solutions group.
What you'll do
- Define and drive architecture definition for High-Speed Datacom Ethernet and USB SERDES. - Translate system requirements into block-level specifications and microarchitectures for efficient partitioning and design ownership. - Design and verify analog and mixed-signal macros, including ADCs, DACs, PLLs, transmitters, receivers, LDOs, regulators, high-speed I/Os, bandgaps, oscillators, and DC-DC switching converters. - Perform system and transistor-level design and verification using mixed-mode simulation across multiple process corners, scenarios, and mismatch conditions. - Collaborate with layout engineers to review, mitigate, and optimize parasitic and proximity effects using Cadence Virtuoso. - Define validation plans for post-silicon product-level ATE and bench lab validation using oscilloscopes, source meters, and signal generators.
What you'll need
- BSEE and a minimum of 15 years of industry experience in electronics or electrical engineering. - Demonstrated design experience across Analog SERDES sub-blocks such as ADCs, DACs, PLLs, Transmitters/TX, Receivers/RX, LDOs, Regulators, High Speed I/Os, Bandgap, POR, Oscillator, Charge Pump, Under/Over Voltage Protection, DC-DC Switching Converters, and Analog Switches. - Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso IC design environment and mixed-signal simulation tools. - Familiarity with DRC, LVS, ERC, PEX, and EM analysis tools, as well as verifying designs for SOA, aging, and SHE effects. - Hands-on lab validation experience using power supplies, source meters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators. - Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and scripting languages such as Scheme, SKILL, Perl, or Tcl.
Nice to have
- Experience architecting high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and USB. - Knowledge of Verilog, Liberty timing models, and IBIS-AMI models.
