About the role
As a Systems Engineer, LiDAR Characterization, you will join the Systems team to work hands-on with 4D LiDAR sensors in the lab and in the field. You will characterize sensor performance, debug system-level issues, and support sensor calibration across the full sensor stack from silicon photonics to point clouds.
What you'll do
- Set up and run characterization tests on LiDAR sensors in the lab and on vehicles. - Develop automation software for lab testing and data collection. - Support field data collection across real-world scenarios, including test setups and logging test conditions. - Investigate system-level issues, reproduce problems, collect diagnostic data, and identify root causes alongside engineering teams. - Help develop, run, and verify sensor calibration procedures. - Analyze sensor data with Python or MATLAB, documenting and presenting findings to cross-functional partners.
What you'll need
- MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics/Photonics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with 0–2 years of industry experience. - Hands-on lab experience with sensors, optical systems, or electronic test equipment from research, internships, or industry. - Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data analysis. - Foundational knowledge in signal processing, optics, or measurement statistics. - A methodical approach to debugging issues across hardware, firmware, and software.
Nice to have
- Experience with LiDAR, radar, or perception sensors. - Experience with FMCW or coherent detection. - Experience with sensor calibration.
