About the role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will build and deliver operations and management features for the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platform. You will expand management capabilities to support application architectures like Kubernetes and enable unified management of enterprise private cloud environments.
What you'll do
- Deliver highly scalable and innovative features and capabilities for private cloud management and operations.
- Participate in all phases of the software development cycle as part of an agile team.
- Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality code with tests.
- Provide design specifications and documents for your work.
- Research and evaluate new technologies for building and delivering new features.
- Participate in architectural design and code reviews.
What you'll need
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field and 12+ years of experience or MS degree in Computer Science or related field and 10+ years of related experience.
- Hands-on experience in an AI-Driven Development Life Cycle (ADLC).
- Proven track record of designing and deploying enterprise-grade agentic applications.
- Expertise in Context Engineering and building RAG and MCP architectures.
- Experience in harness engineering including designing model routing, agent execution loop, and tool integration.
- Strong proficiency in backend languages and frameworks, including Java, Spring, Hibernate.
- Proven experience in building end to end features and products with high quality, availability, performance, and scale.
- Solid understanding of message queueing, event streaming and data caching.
- Experience working with Database technologies (RDBMS and NoSQL), preferably OpenSearch, PostgreSQL, and ClickHouse.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with modern JavaScript-based web frameworks like Angular or React.
- Knowledge of VMware technology.
