About the role
As a member of the Computing & Graphics (CG) SoC Architecture team, you will develop and design custom silicon for client, discrete graphics, handheld gaming, gaming consoles, and related platforms. You will work with the lead SoC architect from early concept development through final production to define customer-specific architectures, product specifications, micro-architecture specifications, and performance and power trade-offs.
What you'll do
- Support pathfinding activities to influence and define architecture. - Analyze design tradeoffs in terms of performance, power, and area impact. - Analyze and compile competitive analysis data. - Collaborate with architecture leads to translate product requirements into detailed specifications. - Work with AMD engineering teams and IP teams to ensure architectural alignment of features, clean interoperability, and integration. - Develop and maintain comprehensive end-to-end process documentation to ensure cross-team alignment and execution clarity.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. - Experience conducting experiments, analysis, and formulating design recommendations for SoC and IP design teams. - Experience evaluating performance, power, and area tradeoffs. - Experience translating product requirements into product and micro-architecture specifications.
Nice to have
- Solid understanding of SoC construction including fabric connectivity, memory systems, power delivery, clock distribution, floor planning, and packaging. - Skills in scripting, data analysis, experience with EDA tools, VLSI design flow, and CMOS technology. - Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, TCL, Python). - Experience analyzing sophisticated workflows and developing automation or streamlined processes.
