About the role
Broadcom is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, and deliver mechanical assemblies, including full chassis design for power electronic products. This role covers cradle-to-grave lifecycle product development through volume production, field sustaining, and customer trials.
What you'll do
- Design rack-level and tray-level mechanical enclosures from concept to detailed design, encompassing technology and component selection, tolerance and DFM analysis, documentation, and prototype builds. - Partner with multidisciplinary teams across Hardware, ASIC, Thermal, and Packaging to develop PCB designs, resolve thermal and power delivery challenges, and incorporate advanced manufacturing technologies. - Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and product qualification. - Ensure all designs comply with regulatory requirements and data center best practices. - Prepare engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and change orders.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. - 8+ years of experience in electronics packaging. - Proficiency in PTC Creo and Windchill for 3D modeling, design, and data management. - Experience with sheet metal, machining, die-casting, and plastic manufacturing techniques. - Experience with designs for high-powered enclosures and devices. - Experience with liquid cooling requirements and challenges. - Demonstrated lifecycle product ownership of complex products from inception to volume production.
