Staff Manufacturing Test Engineer - Austin, Texas, United States
Originally posted 11 June 2026 by the employer.
About the role
This role supports high-volume server manufacturing from board-level test through system-level production test, collaborating with ODM partners to define and validate manufacturing test strategies. The work focuses on L6 board-level products—including ICT, MDA, and Board Functional Test—as well as supporting L10 system-level manufacturing test.
What you'll do
- Define and execute manufacturing test strategies and review test plans covering ICT, MDA, Board Functional Test, diagnostic coverage, and line test flows for L6 production. - Define requirements for board-level test stations, fixtures, test software, diagnostic content, and production test infrastructure, driving deployment into ODM manufacturing environments. - Support L10 system-level manufacturing test processes by porting functional tests and validating system-level integration, firmware readiness, thermal behavior, power behavior, and platform health. - Specify manufacturing line requirements for test sequencing, data capture, fixtures, cabling, load boards, debug interfaces, and fixture maintenance. - Monitor manufacturing test metrics, including first-pass yield and retest rates, leading technical investigations and root cause corrective actions on yield loss. - Serve as the primary technical interface with ODM manufacturing test teams, supporting NPI builds, pilot runs, and production ramp.
What you'll need
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering, hardware test engineering, or production test development. - Experience supporting high-volume server manufacturing or complex compute, networking, storage, or data center hardware products. - Deep technical knowledge of board-level manufacturing test processes, including ICT, MDA, Board Functional Test, diagnostic test execution, and defect detection. - Hands-on experience with Linux-based test environments, including test execution, scripting, log collection, and failure triage. - Working knowledge of server hardware architecture, including CPUs, memory, storage, networking, BMCs, firmware, power subsystems, and high-speed interfaces. - Demonstrated experience working directly with ODM, CM, or JDM manufacturing partners and defining test fixture requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience with L6 board-level and L10 system-level manufacturing processes, including porting board-level functional tests into system-level environments. - Familiarity with server diagnostics, BMC interfaces, BIOS/UEFI, firmware update flows, hardware health checks, and system stress testing. - Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages used in manufacturing test automation. - Knowledge of manufacturing data systems, test result databases, yield dashboards, factory analytics, and DFT/DFM principles. - Experience with high-volume NPI, EVT/DVT/PVT, pilot builds, and offshore ODM manufacturing sites.
