Architect and design embedded firmware for digital PWM voltage regulators and custom power management SOCs.

About the role

As a Staff Firmware Engineer on the Performance Computing Power (PCP) team, you will architect, design, and maintain firmware for integrated circuits that supply power to advanced computing platforms. Your work will support digital power ICs spanning low-level circuits through to high-volume manufacturing.

What you'll do

- Design, develop, and verify embedded firmware for digital PWM voltage regulators. - Write firmware patches to implement new features or apply hardware workarounds. - Work with the hardware design team to define interfaces based on user requirements. - Write specifications to document firmware architecture and implementation. - Collaborate with the validation team to bring up new silicon and debug any issues found. - Develop automated tests to validate firmware on the lab bench using test equipment.

What you'll need

- BS or MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related field. - 8+ years of experience in firmware development on custom SOCs in pre- and post-silicon environments. - Expertise in embedded firmware development in C and assembly programming languages. - Deep understanding of state machine driven task management and RTOS concepts, along with interrupt, memory, and performance optimization for real-time applications. - Experience working with hardware RTL design in Verilog. - Proficiency with the Linux command line and a scripting language such as Python or Perl.

Nice to have

- Knowledge of ARM Cortex M-series processors and ARM compiler toolchains. - Working experience with Cadence or Synopsys design tools such as SimVision or Verdi. - Solid understanding of serial bus protocols such as I2C and SPI. - Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and standalone FW unit test benches. - Familiarity with DC-DC buck converter concepts and applications.
