About the role
This role involves owning system-level electrical design decisions from concept through production release for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The work focuses on robust electrical architectures that integrate power, controls, safety, and system interconnects for Veeco's Laser Annealing and Advanced Packaging Systems.
What you'll do
- Own electrical subsystem and system-level architectures for complex semiconductor capital equipment.
- Lead detailed design and integration of analog, digital, mixed-signal, alternating-current and direct-current power, controls, printed circuit boards, cables, and cable harnesses.
- Define and verify industrial control-system interconnects, including EtherCAT-based architectures.
- Design safety interlocks and drive compliance reviews against Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International, Underwriters Laboratories, European Conformity, and related product-safety requirements.
- Direct hands-on verification, calibration, and root-cause investigations.
- Deliver complete production-release documentation, including schematics, drawings, reports, test results, calibration methods, and design-review materials.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 12 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience designing electrical or electronic systems for industrial products or complex capital equipment.
- Experience developing analog, digital, mixed-signal, and alternating-current and direct-current power systems.
- Develop and maintain electrical design documentation using CAD tools, including schematics, layouts, wiring diagrams, interconnects, cables, and harness assemblies.
- Working knowledge of EtherCAT or comparable industrial communication and control networks.
- Understanding of electrical signal, power, grounding, control, and safety distribution in large industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International S2 and S8, voltage-sag immunity requirements, European Conformity requirements, Restriction of Hazardous Substances requirements, and related regulatory standards.
- Proficiency with OrCAD, Altium Designer, AutoCAD, or comparable electrical design tools.
- Apply electrical safety, regulatory, and compliance standards throughout equipment design, development, testing, and product release activities.
