About the role
This role involves architecting and developing hardware/software co-design solutions for ASIC/FPGA-based acceleration across applications such as networking, storage, automotive, aerospace, and AI/ML workloads. You will design high-performance hardware acceleration engines and embedded software that orchestrates them.
What you'll do
- Participate in the product development cycle from architecture through implementation, prototyping, validation, productization, and support.
- Collaborate with architects, hardware engineers, and firmware engineers to understand new features.
- Design, verify, and validate high-performance logic using System Verilog/Verilog, focusing on data and control paths, and implementing designs for PCIe (Gen 6/7), CXL, UAL, Ethernet, and DDR5/6.
- Utilize standard ASIC flows and AMD (Xilinx) Vivado ecosystems to integrate custom IP with other subsystems.
- Perform pre-silicon verification and emulation to ensure functional correctness and performance.
- Lead the "Bring-up" process in the lab and perform post-silicon validation, debugging complex interactions between embedded software and hardware fabric.
What you'll need
- Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with ASIC/FPGAs.
- Expertise in SystemVerilog/Verilog, synchronous design, and timing closure for high-speed logic.
- Knowledge of PCIe, AXI, DDR, and Ethernet.
- Familiarity with UVM-based verification frameworks and emulation platforms (Palladium, Protium, Zebu).
- Experience in hardware debugging.
- Proficiency in Python, Tcl, Makefiles, and Shell scripting for automation.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with CXL or UAL.

How we counted: 1021 open Digital/RTL Design (RTL Design) roles from 103 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 15 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Digital Design & Verification family row. Figures refresh nightly.
