About the role
This role optimizes and develops deep learning frameworks and GPU kernels for AMD GPUs across multi-GPU and multi-node systems.
What you'll do
- Enhance and optimize deep learning frameworks including TensorFlow and PyTorch for AMD GPUs in open-source repositories. - Create and optimize GPU kernels to maximize training and inference performance for specific AI operations. - Collaborate with internal GPU library teams and upstream open-source maintainers to integrate optimizations. - Optimize deep learning performance across scale-up (multi-GPU) and scale-out (multi-node) distributed computing environments. - Enhance the deep learning pipeline through the integration of graph compilers and compiler technologies. - Provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and mentorship to junior team members through code reviews and technical guidance.
What you'll need
- Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. - C++ development experience with advanced technical skills in Linux environments. - Experience defining scope, owning development efforts, and delivering technical leadership.
Nice to have
- Experience designing and optimizing GPU kernels for deep learning on AMD GPUs using HIP, CUDA, and assembly (ASM). - Knowledge of AMD architectures (GCN, RDNA) and tools like Compute Kernel (CK), CUTLASS, and Triton for multi-GPU performance. - Advanced proficiency in Python and C++ with performance tuning, debugging, and robust test design experience. - Experience optimizing AI workloads across large-scale, heterogeneous compute environments. - Understanding of compiler internals, LLVM, and ROCm to drive system-level optimizations from source to machine code.

How we counted: 698 open Systems Software Engineering (Systems Software) roles from 73 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 22 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
