About the role
The Senior Product Compliance Engineer supports day-to-day product safety activities for the Compute Test Division in San Jose, CA. This position manages product safety and EMC compliance activities in collaboration with development teams supporting the Communications Solutions Division (Quantifi, LitePoint) and MultiLane.
What you'll do
- Define applicable standards and certifications by product and target region, identify custom components requiring separate certification, and maintain compliance plans and safety/EMC test plans.
- Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR), lead risk assessments, and evaluate safety-critical component data sheets to drive early pre-compliance work.
- Coordinate internal and external testing events, first-pass safety/construction reviews, and major sub-assembly certification with certification suppliers, competent bodies, and test labs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, including CE, NRTL, IEC/EN 61010-1, and IEC 60825-1, including laser product classification and labeling for optical products.
- Conduct product safety analysis from circuit-level schematics and wiring diagrams to system-level designs, providing formal safety recommendations to engineering teams.
- Prepare Constructional Data Forms (CDF), maintain Test Reports and Technical Construction Files (TCF), and coordinate EMC pre-compliance and validation activities while logging non-conformances in JIRA.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in product safety and compliance engineering.
- Thorough understanding of IEC/EN 61010-1 standards.
- Hands-on ability to perform product safety testing.
- Hands-on experience with laser measurement and optical power testing.
- Knowledge of domestic and international electrical safety standards and regulations, including National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and European Standards (EN61010, EN60825).
